Soooo whats new in the wedding planning world. hmmm let's see...
I sent out all the save the dates! Only 1 came back with the incorrect address! That reminds me I still have to resend that one....other than that It was a success...I will say I did have a funny experience at the post office when I was dropping of my first batch of save the dates...
First of all...let me say...that people get far too angry at the post office! And everyone is in line with nothing else to do but intently listen to the angry person yelling at the poor underpaid post office worker. This one lady was arguing with post office worker as to why she couldn't send her package express or air mail or something...He was calmly trying to explain to her that there are certain regulations and what she is sending CANT go on an air plane...she persisted to argue and eventually just left...she made quite an exit to say the least...
Anyway, I digress...When it was my turn I handed one of the envelopes to the post office lady so she could weigh it and tell me what postage I needed to purchase. She was a very sweet lady, but did not speak the greatest English. However, since I am pretty good at communicating with those who don't speak English very well (most of my extended family) we communicated just fine..or so I thought...She told me I needed 46 cent stamps and grabbed out some pretty wedding stamps from her drawer. I loved them! Then she asked me how many I needed...
I said 46 ( I just so happened to have 46 save the dates to mail that day)
She said "yes, how many?"
I said, "46"
She then looked at me like I was confused and said very slowly..."yes these stamps are 46 cen how many you needed?"
I said, "yes I know I need 46"
Then she clarified further..."Yes these are 46 cent stamps, how many you need to mail?"
At this point...I wasn't frustrated...I just thought it was pretty funny that neither I or she were able to communicate clearly...so finally I thought about my words and said while I motioned to my envelopes..." I have 46 envelopes and I need 46 stamps for them."
Those words ladies and gentleman, are the magic words you need to use if you are ever in a similar situation!
She than laughed a little and said, "oooh okay" and charged me for the stamps.
I then handed her the envelopes....she then informed me I had to put all the stamps on myself before mailing them....
Trust me..I wasn't having a princess moment...Now...I don't know what made me believe this...but I thought the post office did this for you! I felt like such a post office newbie...so I took my stamps, sat on a chair in the corner and put all the stamps on all the envelopes and placed them in the little post office bin the lady handed me. Afterwards...I felt very accomplished, and I really appreciate all the post office workers!
In other postal and stationary news...I received my invitations! They are beautiful and I am very happy with the way we designed them! I am adding my own little touch to each of them before mailing them out in a few weeks...soooo that'll be a process...but it'll be fun.
That's all I got for now! Oh ya! And I updated the wedding party section of our wedding website! You should go look!
